Republican Congressman Says His Party Is 'Lying To America' As He Announces Retirement

Republican Congressman Ken Buck announced that he wasn't going to seek reelection this past week, and he managed to take a sledgehammer to the Republican Party as he announced his impending exit. Buck, a member of the far-right Freedom Caucus, said that there are too many leaders in his Party that are "lying to America", mostly about the 2020 election, but there are plenty of lies coming from his Party. This past week, freedom Caucus Republican representative Ken Buck, announced that he would not in fact be seeking reelection next year. And after his current term expires, he is officially retired from the House of Representatives. Now, this actually comes as a pretty decent blow to the Republican party. Of course, Ken Buck has held that seat for many, many years. So now Republicans are gonna have to spend more money than they had probably initially planned because they're gonna have an open seat. And that just makes it a little more iffy. Um, I haven't looked at the makeup of Ken Buck's district, but if it's a district that has reelected him, you know, many, many, many times Republicans are probably gonna keep the seat, but maybe not. Maybe Ken Buck's parting message to the world is enough to make the Republicans in his district realize how corrupt and stupid and deceitful the Republican Party has become.

Because Ken Buck did not just say, eh, I'm done after this, you know, term, I'm leaving by, sorry. See ya. No, no. Ken Buck decided to effectively go scorched Earth against his entire Republican party. He put out a message, a video message on social media where he said this, Americans are rightfully concerned about our nation's future. And if they're looking to GOP lawmakers, quote, their hope for Republicans to take divisive action may be in vain. Too many Republican leaders are lying to America claiming that the 2020 election was stolen, describing January 6th as an unguided tour of the Capitol, and asserting that the ensuing prosecutions are a weaponization of our justice system. It's pretty much a direct shot at Marjorie Taylor Greene, by the way. He continues. It is impossible for the Republican Party to confront our problems and offer a course correction for the future, while being obsessively fixated on retribution and vengeance for contrived injustices of the past, which, of course, is a direct shot at the Republicans in the house trying to impeach President Biden as revenge for Democrats impeaching Donald Trump twice. So Kenten Buck called his party out, said, we're li we're just, we're a bunch of liars. We're lying to America. We're not gonna fix your problems. We're just engaged in retribution. We're interested in vengeance, not governing. So Ken Buck says, I'm done. He's not done being a Republican, but he doesn't wanna participate in this petty game anymore. The thing is, we've seen this, we saw it last year with Adam Kininger, who now says that his own family members disowned him because he lost Sean Hannity's trust. He said that this past week we saw it with Liz Cheney after she lost her primary last year. We saw it before, all of that with Colin Powell saying, I'm done with the Republican Party. We saw it with, with Walsh, right? You know, he was a Freedom Caucus Republican Joe Walsh, freedom Caucus Republican saw that they were just getting too insane. Saw the insanity of Donald Trump. He's like, guys, I'm done.

It's becoming common for even some of the most far right Republicans to be like, listen, my party is nuts. And this is coming from the people inside the party. They're, they're, they're escaping. They're getting to the outside, and they're screaming to the rest of us. These people are crazy. Now, I don't agree with the politics of any of these people I've listed, whether it's Sing or Walsh, Cheney, Powell, or Buck. I don't agree with them on any issues really. But when they're telling the world that the party I am a part of has gone insane, we should listen to them.
