4:37Now PlayingDonald Trump is once again going after special prosecutor Jack Smith's family, and during his weekend rally in New Hampshire, Trump claimed that Smith's family "hates Trump" even more than Smith himself does. There is absolutely no evidence to support any of the things that Trump says about Smith and his family, but that doesn't matter to the crowd. Trump knows that his cult members are unstable, and by repeatedly attacking Smith and his family, Trump is hoping to intimidate them into backing down. Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Donald Trump might be under a gag order to not attack any of the witnesses in his case where he, you know, tried to overturn the 2020 election. He's under a gag order in New York in the fraud trial where he can't go after any members of anger on staff inside the court. But so far, none of the gag orders that he has been placed under have told him he can't talk about special prosecutor Jack Smith or any members of Jack Smith's family. So because of that, over the weekend, Donald Trump, once again, leveled attacks against special prosecutor Jack Smith's family, a family that is in no way, shape or form involved in the prosecution of Donald Trump, a family that is not employed by the DOJA family that has not worked on any of the cases or the trials that Trump is facing. And yet, this man, the front runner for the Republican nomination is out there attacking Smith's family. So here's what happened. Donald Trump told his crowd in New Hampshire that, uh, Jack Smith is deranged. He's a Trump hating prosecutor. His wife and family despise me much more than he does.
He then said that on a scale of one to 10, how much they hate Trump, he said, Smith is about a 10 and his family is about a 15. On a scale of 10, there's always intimidation of everybody at the highest level. But I really don't care. I don't care. I just want to do what's right for the country. No, you don't. You're running for president again because you were drunk with power and you wanna feel that drunkenness again. And of course, because it allowed you to put a lot of federal dollars in your own pockets by forcing the Secret Service, and of course for and heads of state to visit your properties where they had to rent rooms and rent golf carts and all that kind of stuff. You want the money and you want the power. You don't give a what happens to this country.
But that part's beside the point. The big point is that as per usual, Donald Trump is once again placing a target on a group of people who are now going to be subjected to even more threats from his cult like followers. The fact that Donald Trump has not been slapped with a gag order that covers Jack Smith, and by extension his family is absolutely mind blowing at this point. And I don't know if Smith has specifically requested that. As far as I've seen, he has not, you know, he doesn't want to be perceived as a coward, but at some point, some judge is going to have to say, enough is enough, because this is straight up bunkers. Donald Trump is attacking this man's family. And even if a judge doesn't wanna put a gag order saying, you can't talk about
Jack Smith for the love of God, could you at least protect the man's family? They're not involved in any of this. And for the record, Jack Smith himself is not doing anything illegal. He is actually doing the job that the United States Department of Justice appointed him to do. But if you're not gonna protect him, then you at least have to protect his family. You have to do something. Donald Trump is not the guy that's gonna go out there and cause any harm to anyone. You know him personally. I'm not worried about Donald Trump showing up at my door and trying to throw a punch. Jack Smith is not worried about Donald Trump lunging over from the defense side of the courtroom and trying to attack him. That's not ever gonna happen because Trump himself is a big fat coward. His supporters, however, have a a few screws missing, and when they hear Trump make these claims, when they hear him do these calls to action, which is effectively what these are, it puts people in harm's way and the courts could stop it. But they're actively making the choice to not do that, and people could die as a result.
