4:59Now PlayingFox News host Sean Hannity couldn't be any happier about the fact that CNN allowed Donald Trump to lie without being called out for 90 minutes during Thursday's debate. He went on the air to praise the network for allowing such an atrocity to take place as the rest of the world blasted the network for not doing their most basic journalistic job. Even CNN's own staffers are furious with the network over this decision, as Farron Cousins explains.

All right, this is the last I'm gonna mention anything about last week's horrific presidential debate, but we gotta talk one last time about how horribly CNN performed Jake Tapper and Dana Bash During that debate, they were so bad they allowed Donald Trump to stand up on that stage for 90 minutes, where according to CNN's own fact checker, Daniel Dale, he told a lie, mistruth or exaggeration. And every single response, all every response, the man couldn't stop himself from lying. And not one time did those moderators ever push back. Trump was allowed to lie to the American public, to the millions of people watching at home for 90 minutes. It was no different than a Donald Trump campaign rally, except that President Biden was there watching the whole thing happen, struggling to fact check and, you know, call him out for his lies, while also getting to his own talking points.
But here's the thing, here's the kicker. Here's how, you know, CNN screwed up so poorly because they were praised by Fox News host Sean Hannity. Sean Hannity could not be happier that CNN allowed Donald Trump to lie to the world for an hour and a half on Thursday evening. Here is what Sean Hannity said on the air, in fairness to fake news, CNN fake Jake and fake Dana. They put aside their prejudice, their hatred towards Donald Trump for the night, and they actually asked questions and waited for answers. I thought they managed the debate fairly well. Something I didn't expect, considering we've been playing the tape of them trashing Donald Trump for many years. So I guess credit for one night. Now, just to kind of start with, I don't know what fake Jake, fake Dana meet. Like, are you suggesting these aren't real human beings like Jake?
Jake Tapper's a real person, Dana Bash is a real human being. So calling them fake Jake or fake Dana, that makes zero sense. But that's something Trump would say. So I see why Hannity would say it himself, but Hannity is tickled pink that they didn't call him out on his lies. Even when Donald Trump said that Democratic states allow you to murder babies after they're born, which of course is not a thing that has ever been legal anywhere in this country, ever, ever, ever, ever. And the moderators, even on that egregious lie, didn't bother to say, well, wait a minute, infanticide is actually not allowed any, they didn't even do that. The most basic journalistic practice there is telling people the truth, and they couldn't do it. Maybe they were told by the higher ups at the network that you don't get involved in that you can't appear biased. Oh, we've gotta walk the line really thin here. Let him lie. If he's gonna lie, really? What's it gonna do? Hurt your ratings. CNNI mean, on a good day, you get about as
Many views across your total network as I do here on this channel. Okay? Y you're a cable news network, the oldest, longest lived cable news network, and you're dead last in the ratings. You're not gonna scare anybody off by fact checking Trump, but you actually might gain people if you had done that. So you screwed yourself on that one. And for the record, CNN's own employees are off about it. One CNN journalist talked to Mediaite, and, uh, they said, quote, we blew it. It was a total debacle. There should have been some fact checking. You know, at the very least, call out the egregious things. Call out. Hey, Democrats aren't actually murdering babies. You idiot. You don't even have to add the you idiot part. I mean, I'm not gonna cry if you do, but when you're being praised by Sean Hannity for allowing Trump to lie for 90 minutes, you know, you screwed up. Not that this even necessarily would've helped President Biden. Okay? His performance goes beyond Donald Trump's, you know, uh, trying to fact check him.
