3:32Now PlayingHow do you jazz up a 40-year-old jingle for a Super Bowl ad worth millions?
Make it smooth. That’s why Busch Light recruited legendary saxophonist Kenny G for its 2022 Super Bowl ad, during which the the king of smooth jazz puts a new spin on an old classic.
Inspired by Busch’s 1979 ad “Head For The Mountains,” the new ad—which debuted on Monday—opens by showing two friends drinking beer to the tune of the original commercial’s jingle, when the larger-than-life spirit of Kenny G shows up to perform his own jazzy spin on the song. It will air in dozens of regional markets during Super Bowl LVI before airing nationally later in the year. It is one of many that parent company Anheuser-Busch is planning to run during the big game for brands including Budweiser, Bud Light Next, Michelob Ultra and Cutwater, among others.
With his 15 seconds of Super Bowl stardom, Kenny G—whose real name is Kenneth Gorelick—turns a country ballad into a jazzy solo that feels very him.
