But as she grew older and started to immerse herself in the tech world, she realized that there were very few Black individuals in the field. So she founded Coders of Colour for young people 11- to 25-years-old to get training in machine learning, app development and more. The organization also works to close the digital divide by supplying laptops and broadbands to those in need.
Tolúlope sat down with Forbes Assistant News Editor Isabel Togoh to discuss why more people should have access to jobs in tech, why companies should be more transparent about their shortcomings on race and gender, and her work making technology more accessible to people in sub saharan Africa.
