With a background in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, his research focuses on automatic speech recognition, unsupervised speech processing, and spoken language understanding through machine learning. James is recognized as an IEEE Fellow and a Fellow of the International Speech Communication Association. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
