YouTube Description
as posted by the channelHighland Park, Mich. - Her dream came in a nightmare.
When her baby was killed, Shamayim Harris looked around this city wholly surrounded by Detroit. No streetlights, no parks, no libraries. No place to be a child.
She began to dream. Be the change.
She bought a rundown house on Avalon Street. And then she bought the lot next door and made a park. She erected a solar street lamp. She mowed and cleared the lots on Avalon Street. She got abandoned houses torn down. Soon, the children came to camp overnight. Musicians came to play. And her dream began to grow.
The loss of a child set in motion a remarkable American story about humanity and perseverance and beauty of woman.
