Raymond Mikeska was riding in his daughter's car on I-30 in Fort Worth when they say a group of kids through the asphalt chunk at their car. Police are trying to find the kids.
Mikeska says he heard a loud thud Sunday evening while riding in the front seat of his daughter's car. It was a chunk of asphalt crashed through the windshield that hit him square in the chest.
“It just happened just like that,” he said. “My eyes, I just didn't see it."
Cindy Boyd was driving Eastbound on I-30 in Fort Worth with her dad. She immediately pulled over when it happened.
"My father raised his shirt up to show me,” she recalled. “And he was just covered in glass."
Mikeska's great-granddaughter found the asphalt chunk under the front seat. Fort Worth police are investigating.
Boyd says when she looked back at the kids after checking her father's wound, there was no remorse.
"And then they just walked off just as nonchalantly,” Boyd said. “They didn't run. They weren't afraid. It did not bother them"
The veteran and former football player for Army showed the injury on his chest. He said he’s thankful it didn't hit him in the head.
"It could have hit me more in my face, across my eyes or something like that or forced to hit my forehead,” he said. “It could have it could have killed me very easily."
