15:19Now PlayingIt’s been exactly 30 years since the New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup, and their 2023-24 season has been eerily similar to that of the 1994 Championship team. From the energy at the Garden during games to star power in the names on the rosters, the Rangers are competing at the highest level and heading toward their own postseason run, which is expected to go deep into the playoffs.
There is no one better, or kinder, to talk about this subject while also sharing analysis about the current Blueshirts than former left winger and scoring machine Adam Graves. He joined FOX 5 NY’s Tina Cervasio on Sports Xtra on April 7 while the Rangers had just four games left in the regular season.
After winning the Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers in 1990, Graves became an unrestricted free agent, ultimately singing with the Rangers in 1991. Graves played the left wing, on a line with his former Oilers teammate, Mark Messier, shattering his previous NHL career highs with 26 goals and 59 points in 1991-92, helping the Rangers win the Presidents' Trophy -- awarded to the team with the best record in the regular season -- for the first time.
In this interview, Graves shares how the Rangers won the President’s Trophy again in 1994 and turned that into the Stanley Cup after a challenging but thrilling Stanley Cup playoff run.
From the Rangers Championship Parade in Lower Manhattan to what his kids ask about his legendary 17-year NHL career, Graves is known to be one of the nicest professional athletes to ever come through New York.
