Officials are reminding people to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and light-colored clothing, check on vulnerable neighbors and keep pets off hot pavement. Fire officials are also warning people to properly dispose of hot coals and fireworks, and to follow local laws where backyard fireworks are banned.
