1:01Now PlayingNew York City Comptroller and mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested Tuesday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the Federal Plaza Immigration Court.
Video filmed by a member of Lander's team shows agents attempting to separate Lander from a man with whom he had linked arms. Lander can be heard repeatedly asking if the agents had a judicial warrant and demanding to see it, stating, "I will let go when you show me the warrant."
Agents then forcibly separated the two, handcuffed Lander, and escorted him into an elevator. Lander stated they had no authority to arrest a U.S. citizen. According to reports, Lander was escorting an immigrant whose case had been dismissed at the court.
