0:28Now PlayingA powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake struck Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, July 30, while doctors were performing surgery on a cancer patient.
Surveillance video, shared by regional health minister Oleg Melnikov, captured four medical staff securing their patient and surgical equipment as the building at the Kamchatka oncology center in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky shook.
Melnikov praised the medical team as "heroes in white coats," and Governor Vladimir Solodov announced they would receive state awards for their courage.
