A DoorDash driver faces potential product tampering charges after surveillance footage captured the employee allegedly spraying an unknown irritant onto a customer’s food delivery.

The incident occurred around midnight on Dec. 7 in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, where Mark Cardin reported his wife began coughing and vomiting immediately after consuming the order.

Speaking to local media, Cardin said, “We live in a terrible world right now. Horrific. People are mean for no reason. There was no reason to do what she done … We assume it’s pepper spray, that’s more than likely what it is, but now in this day and age it could’ve been anything. It could’ve been rat poison, it could’ve been fentanyl. I mean, my wife could’ve been dead.”

DoorDash stated it has revoked the driver’s access to the platform and is cooperating with law enforcement, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior.
