0:20Now PlayingTerrifying dashcam footage shows a driver nearly hit by a falling power line during the EF-3 tornado that struck Appleton and Menasha in northeastern Wisconsin.
The video captures trees and utility lines coming down along the roadway as the driver travels through dangerous conditions. Survey crews determined the tornado produced estimated peak winds of 140 mph, traveled 12.1 miles and reached a maximum width of 1,500 yards.
The tornado moved through western Appleton and downtown Menasha before continuing toward Lake Winnebago. Homes and businesses were damaged across the region, with some of the worst destruction reported near Highway 10 in Fox Crossing and Menasha.
