1:00Now PlayingAn 1847 watercolor taken from a Jewish family by the Nazi regime in Vienna has been returned to their relatives in Wayzata, Minnesota, 86 years later.
The painting belonged to Jackie Sondell’s great aunt and uncle, who were imprisoned and forced to sell treasured possessions as they tried to survive and escape. An Austrian government official personally delivered the artwork to Sondell as part of the country’s efforts to return items taken by the Nazi regime to their rightful owners.
