A Shelby County inmate is dead reportedly by the hands of another inmate as they waited for hearings Thursday morning at the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center.

It all happened inside Criminal Court Division 1 around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

Judge Paula Skahan said they were preparing to begin court when she heard screaming coming from the inmate holding area.

"This is by far the worst that I have ever seen in a courtroom setting," Judge Skahan said. "It certainly sounds like it was planned."

Only FOX13's camera was rolling inside the courtroom when suddenly there was a scream on the other side of a door.
