"I was born male and identify as female. But I like to say that I’m a girl stuck in a boy’s body," nine-year-old Lia Hegarty tells FRONTLINE.
Lia shares her story in "Growing Up Trans," a documentary coming to FRONTLINE (PBS) on June 30. The 90-minute special follows eight kids who are transitioning, ranging from ages 9 to 19 — and shows how a new generation of kids and their parents are navigating the changing and complicated world of gender and identity, with new medical options and at younger and younger ages.
