SPUTNIK 209: George Galloway Interviews Professor Jude Woodward & Andy West

Though the Western world has been swept by a wave of Russophobia not seen since the 1950s, most sensible people believe that it’s really all about China. Its growing footprint in the economies of emerging countries is a threat that another way is possible. The dollar need not always be king, and the monopoly of US hyper-power is fading fast. Professor Jude Woodward was a leading player in Ken Livingstone’s London mayoralty; she’s an academic and an activist. She has also just written a book called ‘The US vs China: Asia’s new Cold War,’ so who better to invite into the Sputnik studio to help us uncover these new world dynamics?

Andy West was a reporter on the BBC before having the temerity to not only hold his own opinion, but also publicly express it, after boxer Tyson Fury was shortlisted for Sports Personality of the Year. He made a controversial exit from the corporation and went on to become a popular public spokesperson on equal rights. Along with being a celebrated inmate of the Big Brother house, he has recently started a new campaign called ‘Come Out and Play.’ So, we invited him aboard Sputnik to hear more about his work and the difficulties of reconciling objective journalism with being a person with opinions and principles.
