Welcome to Episode 40 of our No2Nato broadcasts: Moldova Meltdown!

A Moldovan court on Tuesday jailed Evghenia Guțul, part of the opposition Shor party, and head of the autonomous region of Gagauzia, to 7 years incarceration in a penal colony. This comes less than 2 months before national elections in the country.

In this episode we will be exploring:

- What was Evghenia Guțul guilty of and does the sentence fit the crime?

- If her sentence politically motivated?

- If there are parallels between the way opposition voices are treated in Moldova, Ukraine and Romania?

- The role if any of NATO and the EU in all of this.

- What the future is for Moldova and the eastern Europe region as a whole.

Host Mick Stott is joined in the broadcast by Author and Former Political Advisor to EU Ambassador, Dr Lucy Morgan Edwards, and Philip O'Connor of the Irish Political Review Group.
