11:33Now PlayingOn March 17th, worldwide coronavirus cases neared two hundred thousand, and 162 countries now have confirmed cases. In the US there are nearly 5,000 COVID 19 patients, and 93 have passed away. Now, governments are being forced to decide: save lives, or save the economy? Small businesses have been the hardest hit across America, with restaurants and bars having to close down for weeks to come. Reports say 50 PERCENT of all service jobs will be impacted, with as many as 1 MILLION jobs lost. We're seeing healthcare systems around the world become completely overwhelmed by this pandemic, and "flattening the curve" has never been more important: countries who do this successfully likely will have a one percent fatality rate...others may be as high as two or three percent. And, as the American economy continues to suffer, it's likely President Trump's chance at re-election will suffer too...more and more Democrats favor nationalized health systems, and government in Italy just took control of all private hospitals as well.
But...there IS some good news! The U.S. is currently testing a historic vaccine...one that doesn't use live virus, but relies on synthetically produced RNA strands to fight the disease instead. Even if human trials are successful, the vaccine likely won't be in widespread use for another 18 months. So, for now, keep calm and carry on!
