6 Coloradoans have brought a petition seeking to have the Court direct Colorado's Secretary Of State to remove Trump from the ballot for the 2024 election. They allege that the U.S. Constitution Am. 14, Section 3 bars any person who "engaged in insurrection" from holding office as President of the United States. They further claim, that Trump's role in the siege of the Capitol on January 6, qualifies as "engaging in insurrection" and disqualifies him from running for office.
Yesterday, we heard testimony from sociologist Peter Simi who alleged that Trump was a significant factor in J6. He was followed by "Bill" Banks who claimed to be an expert that felt Trump should have done more to stop the insurrection after it started.
Today, we anticipate hearing from additional experts for Petitioners and perhaps the opening of Trump's Defense.
