as posted by the channelGoogle.org grantee Wadhwani AI is using AI to bring the world’s agricultural expertise to every farmer. Wadhwani has shown that after using the app, farmers’ profits increased 20% and pesticide use decreased 25%.
In 2019, Google.org gave Wadhwani AI a grant and a team of Google.org engineers and technical support helped them build an app called CottonAce, which helped farmers identify and mitigate pest infestation in their crops. In 2023, Google.org reinvested in this organization to use AI to expand their pest monitoring support to new crops, and provide farmers with locally relevant news about plant disease, climate events and pest infestations.
