While it may seem like an odd question, it's one worth exploring because your answer will reveal your primary motivation for following Jesus. Is being a Christian just about going to heaven, or is it about something more than that? In this video I challenge you that there are three primary motivations for following Jesus: Bribery (I'm just in it for what I get out of it), Fear (I'm just in it to avoid punishment), and Love (I'm in this because I think it is worthy of my devotion). If you as a Christian are motivated by fear or by external rewards (bribery), you are going to struggle to experience authentic character growth and development. However, if you are motivated out of a love of God and a love of God's will, you will find yourself growing in your faith much faster and more effectively.
