YouTube Description
as posted by the channelToday, Christians go to great lengths to insist that we do not teach that sex is inherently bad. In fact, sex is a good gift from God ordered to proper use in another great gift: marriage.
But have Christians always thought this way? The answer is yes and no. Christians have long insisted that the body isn't inherently bad, and that sex has a rightful place within marriage. But they have been far less positive about sex and marriage in general than we are today. To unpack this, in this video, we'll be looking at one figure in particular, the 4th-5th century Church Father and Doctor of the Church, St. Jerome. His views will help us see both continuity and discontinuity in how we think about these things today.
