The last few weeks have been a whirlwind for sports fans. Between the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, and the start of the World Cup, there's been no shortage of games. And with these games comes the sight of fans, players, and coaches praying before, during, and after games. A group of nuns even went viral for praying for a San Antonio Spurs player. All of this has got me thinking about whether we should pray for sports, and specifically, whether it's ok to pray that your team would win. Along the way, I hope you find that exploring this question leads to fruitful reflections upon the nature of prayer and its place in the spiritual life.
