3:39Now PlayingI get these types of questions a lot - people ask me if it’s okay for them to do “this,” if “this” is a good idea, or if they should be doing “this.” And by “this,” I mean something that they SHOULD be doing but instead, they’re holding back, just waiting for someone to give them the go-ahead or permission to do it. This is NOT meant for people who ask me somewhat specific questions - it’s meant for the people who ask me if they should get their real estate license if they want to sell real estate, if they should reach out to their friend/family and ask them about their real estate experiences, if they should start a business they've been researching for awhile. You get the idea.
It’s totally normal to want someone’s permission or approval before doing something - there’s almost a “safety in numbers” mentality where if enough people agree with something, you’re protected in the event it doesn’t work out. It also shifts some of the responsibility from yourself and onto the other people who told you to do “this.” However, it’s important to note that you can’t wait around for someone to give you the approval or “ok” that you should do something - it’s very important to learn to get in the habit of making your own decisions and take full responsibility for it. Come up with your own decisions independent of what everyone else says.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t take other people’s opinions into consideration. BUT, you shouldn’t allow someone to have that much influence on you that their word is set in stone whether or not you do something. Consider everything you hear but come to the decision on your own. Learn to get in the habit of making your own decisions and deciding what you do. This applies to just about everything :)
