The first step to making money and becoming rich is to cultivate self initiative…you need to be the type of person to actually make things happen. And I put this one first because it’s the aspect that most people never overcome.…I can’t tell you how many people I see who know EVERYTHING but don’t have the self initiative it takes to actually use what they learned, because there’s SOMETHING that’s always holding them back. In order to be successful early in life, you will NEED to have the self initiative to push through this.
Once you’re beyond that, the second step you’ll really need to learn is to become an independent thinker. Don’t be manipulated by other peoples opinions, don’t be swayed by what someone says, don’t be constantly seeking approval from what you should or shouldn’t be doing. And when you do this, you aren’t making decisions out of fear…you’re making the decisions taking everything into consideration and making the best choice FOR YOU. And THIS is why those people become successful and end up making a ton of money.
The next skill you’ll need to develop once you learn how to take initiative and think for yourself, is to learn the power of persuasion. In fact, this is probably one of the most important skills in this entire list. Just think of it…nearly EVERYTHING you do in life is persuasion. The BEST resource, by far, is a book called “How to win friends and influence people.” Also, this book is free if you just search that title.
Once you’ve done all of that, the next skill to learn is Leadership. It’s learning how to be an example for everyone else around you, it’s having the conversations that most people avoid, it’s making the tough decisions that many people put off, and it’s by teaching through example. In order to really get this skill, it’s about DOING exactly what you preach…and leading really encompasses everything I’ve talked about so far in this video. If you learn the characteristics of a successful leader, it’s something that will follow you ANYWHERE you go with ANYTHING you do.
And finally…all of this would fall apart without this last one, and that’s the skill of time management. This is an absolutely ESSENTIAL step to getting rich in your 20’s…or really any age for that matter… because you NEED to have the discipline to know when to work, what to work on, and what needs to get done. AND you’ll need to prioritize all of that! And if there’s ANYTHING that we all have in common, where NO ONE has an advantage over anyone else…it’s that we all have the same 24 hours in a day.
So there you have it…the 5 steps that you need to follow in order to get RICH in your 20’s…everyone who I’ve seen with money early on has had these 5 qualities.
