The project, envisaged to span over 1,270 + acres, promises employment and industrial growth. However, residents have voiced strong concerns about risks to groundwater, fish‑based livelihoods, health hazards, and forced land‑use changes.
While the project had initial backing, mounting local resistance has triggered political responses. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha visited the area and assured residents that work would be halted pending dialogue.
