52:00Now Playing32-year-old Betty Bowman died on August 20th, 2023 after struggling with food poisoning symptoms and heart issues, fluid buildup in her lungs, and eventually, her organs failed. Her obituary said that she died at the Mayo Clinic's St. Mary's Hospital "following a sudden onset of autoimmune and infectious illness", a narrative her husband had provided. He wanted her body to be cremated immediately, but thankfully, the Medical Examiner's Office found her death suspicious and contacted the Rochester Police Department.
Dr. Connor Bowman had contacted one of the death investigators to find out what the scope and timeline of Betty's toxicology analysis would be if an autopsy was performed. He claimed that she died from HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis) and decided to add this to her obituary. Some of Betty's friends said that there was trouble in paradise and that they believed divorce was a possibility for the couple; Connor had medical school debts to pay off, the pair had separate bank accounts, and they had an open relationship in the months leading up to Betty's death.
