Scheffer has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and armed criminal action for allegedly poisoning her husband's smoothies with lily of the valley root every day for almost two months. Her husband became suspicious of what she was giving him to eat and drink and installed a surveillance camera, which caught her adding the root to his smoothies. She admitted to police that she did this with the intent to cause illness/death.
Sarah was a design and art teacher at Calvary Lutheran High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. In February 2022, she was named the new Capital Arts leader of the school. She is currently being held at the Cole County Jail and was arraigned on Friday, January 19th, 2024.
