as posted by the channelRex Heuermann, a 61-year-old architect from Massapequa, New York, is accused of being the Long Island Serial Killer (LISK), alleged to be responsible for the murders of seven women between 1993 and 2011 (Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello, Jessica Taylor, Sandra Costilla and Valerie Mack). He was arrested in July 2023 in New York city, where he had his architectural offices. As the case heads to the trial phase, let's discuss the latest with Joe Giacalone!
Joseph L. Giacalone is a retired NYPD Sergeant (Supervisor Detective Squad) with extensive experience in criminal investigations, particularly as the former Commanding Officer of the Bronx Cold Case Squad. He’s an internationally recognized expert who has worked on and supervised hundreds of homicides, violent felonies, suicides, and missing persons cases. Currently, he’s an Adjunct Professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, teaching criminal investigation, and a media contributor on true crime topics. Giacalone has authored two books: The Criminal Investigative Function: A Guide for New Investigators (4th Edition) and The Cold Case Handbook (2nd Edition). He’s also been involved in high-profile cases, like the Osage County BTK Serial Killer Task Force in 2023, and frequently comments on cases like the LISK investigation, offering insights on investigative techniques and evidence handling.
