YouTube Description
as posted by the channelMegan Boswell, a Tennessee mother, was convicted of first-degree murder and other charges in the death of her 15-month-old daughter, Evelyn Boswell. The case began in December 2019 when Evelyn was last seen, but it wasn’t until February 2020 that her grandfather, Tommy Boswell Sr., reported her missing, prompting an Amber Alert. Megan provided conflicting stories to authorities, initially claiming Evelyn was with her father, then her grandmother, and later an unnamed person. These statements were proven false.
In March 2020, Evelyn’s remains were found in a trash can inside a playhouse on the Boswell family property in Blountville, Tennessee. Medical examiners determined Evelyn likely died of positional asphyxiation by homicide, with evidence suggesting she was alive when tightly wrapped in a blanket and aluminum foil, placed upside down in the trash can. Megan’s fingerprint was found on the foil, and her DNA was on items in the trash can. Megan faced 19 charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, neglect, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and multiple counts of false reporting. After a week-long trial in February 2025, a Sullivan County jury found her guilty on all counts. Prosecutors argued she killed Evelyn to remove her as an obstacle in her life, while the defense claimed the death was accidental and Megan lied to avoid trouble. The jury sentenced her to life in prison with parole eligibility after 51 years for the murder charges, with additional sentencing for other charges scheduled for September 5th, 2025.
