😎 TRIAL PREP
Prosecutors allege Christine’s husband, Brendan Banfield, an IRS criminal investigator, was having an affair with the family’s live-in au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhães, and orchestrated a plan that resulted in both deaths. The State claims Joseph Ryan believed he was meeting Christine for a consensual encounter, only to be framed as an intruder after the killings.
Juliana later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and a firearm offense and is expected to testify for the State. Brendan Banfield has since been arrested and charged with multiple counts of aggravated murder and related firearm charges. Banfield, whose daughter was at the house on the morning of the killings, is also charged with child abuse and felony child cruelty in connection with the case. He will also face those charges during the aggravated murder trial. He has pleaded not guilty and his trial started with jury selection on January 12th, 2026. It is set to last approximately 4 weeks.
