The president of the United States has zero constitutional power over elections. States and counties run elections, not the federal government, and not the White House.
Hawk lays out the actual ways elections get rigged in America: billionaire money through Citizens United and super PACs, the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act, and aggressive redistricting stripping Black representation across the South.
One Google executive planning to spend $200 million to kill a California tax proposal. Elon Musk dropping $300 million on Trump's 2024 campaign. Miriam Adelson and AIPAC spending $20 million to take out Thomas Massie in Kentucky.
Trump tried seven or eight criminal conspiracies from the Oval Office in 2020. Rudy Giuliani lost 61 of 62 lawsuits. Fake electors. Pressure on secretaries of state. None of it worked.
What Trump does have the power to do is pardon insurrectionists, reward them financially, and potentially call them back to Washington in January 2027 if Democrats retake the House and Senate.
