Congressional reporter Scott McFarland, a long-term Capitol Hill correspondent now with Midas Touch, is reporting that a Republican-controlled House of Representatives is expected to launch an investigation into Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller within a week. Hawk calls it an atomic bomb going off in Washington.
The investigation stems from a series of memos Miller drafted in the spring of 2025, reported by the New York Times, in which he pushed for President Trump to suspend habeas corpus, the constitutional right to challenge one's detention in federal court, and to invoke the Insurrection Act, which would authorize the U.S. military to take control of American cities. The Insurrection Act is an exception to the posse comitatus principle, which prohibits the military from conducting police actions against civilians on U.S. soil. Miller's framework defined political disagreement with Trump as insurrection.
Hawk connects these memos to Trump's assault on birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, arguing that Miller's interpretation would effectively strip citizenship from over 100 million Black and Hispanic Americans. Combined with the suspension of habeas corpus and military deployment into cities, Hawk describes the agenda as ethnic cleansing. The argument is underscored by a public statement from Greg Bovino, who referenced deporting 106 million people, a number that maps directly onto the combined Black and Hispanic American populations.
If the House Oversight Committee under James Comer actually convenes hearings and calls witnesses, Hawk argues it would signal that elected Republicans are finally beginning to treat Trump as the lame duck his 34 percent approval rating suggests he is.
