Hawk turns to Zorro Ranch, the remote New Mexico property once owned by Jeffrey Epstein, and a striking detail from the documents released this past January: unlike his other residences, the ranch was reportedly never searched by investigators. Hawk lays out the context, from the Palm Beach investigation and the deal approved by then US Attorney Alexander Acosta, to reporting that hard drives and recording equipment were removed from Epstein's other homes before searches.
The news is a lawsuit. New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez, who says the property sits in his jurisdiction and that he has received little cooperation from the DOJ under Todd Blanche, appeared on Jake Tapper's program and has now sued Blanche, the Department of Justice, and the administration, demanding unredacted files, documents, and witness statements related to the ranch. Hawk notes the estate recently sold the property to a private buyer, and that it still has not been searched.
Hawk connects it to a parallel case brought by legal analyst Katie Phang, in which a judge wrote that Blanche conceded he had violated the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and is now reviewing unredacted documents for possible public release. Hawk argues Blanche's stated privacy rationale rings hollow given survivors say they want the files out, and predicts, based on recent lower-court trends, that Torrez will win.
