The people negotiating on behalf of the United States across several conflicts are Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, both real estate developers, neither with a background in nuclear policy. Kushner is not a federal employee. He is also raising money for his hedge fund from the same Gulf states he travels to, on top of the two billion dollars from Saudi Arabia's sovereign fund secured after the first term. Management fees alone run to eight figures annually.
Trey Yingst interviewed him for Fox, which is rare enough to be worth watching.
At the White House, two reporters asked about scaling back joint exercises with South Korea and pulling the carrier group from the Pacific. The second exchange turned ugly, and afterward the official Rapid Response account went after CNN's Kristen Holmes personally, invoking her children. CNN's statement in response is worth reading in full.
Also here: Trump voting by mail in Florida weeks after calling mail voting inherently corrupt, and the double jeopardy motion filed in the Mangione case after Friday's federal plea, with a briefing schedule running into late October.
