Axios reports that Mike Rogers, the Republican running against Dr. Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, met with AIPAC chair Michael Tuchin and asked the group to stay out of the general election. A finished ad targeting El-Sayed was scrapped, and AIPAC officials are described as furious.
The reasoning is the interesting part. Rogers's team reportedly believes AIPAC spending would backfire and help El-Sayed, which is roughly what happened in the primary, where heavy spending on Haley Stevens preceded her loss.
At a Myrtle Beach rally for Darlene Graham, Trump said out loud what Republicans have been worrying about privately: his voters do not turn out when he is not on the ballot. Hawk pairs that with what has happened to gas, groceries, and utility bills since January.
