Federal agents killed Alex Prey, a 37-year-old registered nurse from Minneapolis, while he was legally carrying a concealed handgun. According to the Department of Homeland Security and Secretary Kristi Noem, the justification for his death was simply that he was armed with a legally owned firearm. Prey never unholstered his weapon, never brandished it, never pointed it at anyone. The Sig Sauer 9mm was in a holster at the small of his back. He had the required permit. He was exercising his Second Amendment rights lawfully under constitutional carry and concealed carry laws that groups like the NRA have fought for decades to establish.
Hawk asks second amendment advocates a direct question: if the federal government killing a citizen for lawfully carrying a firearm doesn't meet the definition of tyrannical government, then what does? This isn't about partisan politics. This is about fundamental constitutional rights. ICE agents, operating under the authority of President Trump and the executive branch, ended a man's life while he posed no threat to federal officers. Alex Prey worked in the intensive care unit at the Minneapolis VA. He was exercising both his First Amendment and Second Amendment rights when he was shot multiple times by federal agents.
The question remains unanswered: where is the outrage from those who have always claimed they need guns to protect themselves from government tyranny? This case forces everyone to confront what tyrannical government actually means in January 2026.
