The Democratic Party sits at roughly 25% approval even as Republicans stumble through a chaotic second Trump term, a war with Iran, a collapsing economy, and a president whose mental fitness is openly questioned. Hawk makes the case that the Democratic Party's cratering numbers aren't accidental — they're the direct result of elected Democrats choosing corporate donors, AIPAC money, and big pharma over the actual wishes of their own voting base.
Recent polling shows 80% of voting Democrats hold a negative view of U.S. support for Israel and the ongoing conflict in Gaza — a number that climbs past 90% among Democrats aged 18 to 49. Despite this, figures like Cory Booker, Hakeem Jeffries, Richie Torres, Chuck Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, Chris Coons, and Mark Kelly continue voting to subsidize Israel against the clear and documented preferences of the people who elected them.
Meanwhile, centrist organization Third Way has announced plans to spend between $30 and $50 million targeting progressive Democrats before the 2028 election — not Republicans, not MAGA candidates — other Democrats. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a heavy recipient of AIPAC donations, co-sponsored bipartisan House legislation to condemn Hassan rather than challenge any Republican policy.
Hawk also points to the DNC refusing to publicly release its 2024 election autopsy — the internal report on why Kamala Harris lost — as evidence that party leadership is protecting the same donor class responsible for the disconnect. The theory: that report says exactly what voters have been saying for years.
