Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, the bipartisan authors of the Epstein Transparency Act, are demanding four critical categories of documentation from the Department of Justice following an afternoon document release. The California Democrat outlined specific materials needed from the FBI and DOJ archives, including witness interview reports that name other men identified by Epstein survivors, emails seized directly from Jeffrey Epstein's personal computer rather than those provided by his estate, the notorious 60-count draft indictment from the 2005-2007 West Palm Beach investigation, and an 82-page prosecution memo from the same timeframe.
Dozens of Epstein survivors remain in regular contact with Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, sharing details about their FBI interviews and the names they provided to federal investigators. The survivors, except for Virginia Giuffre who died in April, continue advocating for full transparency. The original Florida investigation by West Palm Beach Police had lined up multiple victims for prosecution before the case was taken over by the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, who worked with defense attorneys including Alan Dershowitz and Kenneth Starr to reduce charges dramatically. Epstein ultimately pleaded guilty to one count of solicitation of prostitution involving a minor, serving just 13 months with daily work release.
The Epstein Transparency Act discharge petition successfully passed into law after summer efforts by Khanna and Massie. Lawmakers emphasize that prosecutors, police officers, and detectives from the original investigation remain alive and able to provide testimony. Questions continue surrounding the DOJ's handling of the case and decisions made by current and former officials regarding document releases and ongoing investigations into potential co-conspirators.
