Greg Bovino and The Case for American Nuremberg Trials After Trump

Greg Bovino was removed from command in Minneapolis and ordered back to California amid reports of imminent retirement in disgrace. The removal of Trump's DHS commander from Minnesota represents a victory, but accountability requires more than retreat. Federal agents in Minneapolis appear to have committed crimes prosecutable under state law, including the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, plus the killing of Keith Porter by off-duty ICE agent Brian Palasios on New Year's Eve.

Presidential immunity created by the Supreme Court applies only to the president, not to subordinates carrying out orders. Tom Homan, despite allegations of accepting a $50,000 bribe caught on FBI recordings, now controls federal forces in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Attorney General should establish a task force to investigate DHS agents and bring criminal cases under state jurisdiction, which Trump cannot pardon as evidenced by Tina Peters serving prison time in Colorado.

Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Good. Federal agents murdered Alex Pretti and pepper-sprayed civilians at point-blank range. Brian Palasios killed Keith Porter. These individuals must face prosecution. The Supreme Court granted immunity to the president alone, not to cabinet members, agency heads, or federal law enforcement officers who violated civil rights and broke state laws during enforcement actions.

Creating disincentives for future government employees who might break the law on presidential orders requires maximum legal accountability. Without restraining mechanisms through impeachment or the 25th Amendment, the only constraint on executive power comes from prosecuting those who execute unlawful commands. State prosecution remains the pathway forward where federal accountability fails.
