Steve Bannon and Boris Epstein once promoted FJB coin, short for a vulgar anti-Biden slogan, as the foundation of an uncancellable MAGA economy. What followed was a textbook crypto grift that left investors locked out of their wallets and millions in transaction fees unaccounted for.
Hawk takes a hard look at the class action lawsuit surrounding FJBcoin, which carried an 8% transaction fee, with 5% promised to charitable causes including Veterans Care. After Bannon and Epstein took ownership in December 2021, the charity commitments produced little more than token donations while a crypto expert told ABC News that funds appeared diverted to high-risk obscure coin investments.
Internal Discord messages included in the lawsuit reveal the coin's own administrators calling the financial management worse than they ever imagined and flagging a $120,000 payment to Epstein's associates for work described as lackluster. The coin briefly attempted a rebrand to Patriot Pay, only to discover the trademark was already taken. By February 2025, investor wallets were locked with no communication from administrators for over a year. The coin had been trading at a fraction of a fraction of a penny when Bannon and Epstein first bought in. The lawsuit is pending class action certification.
Jack Posobiec and Benny Johnson also promoted the coin to MAGA audiences, widening the reach of what critics now call one of the more brazen political crypto schemes in recent memory.
