Democrats who attended the classified briefing on Iran walked out more alarmed than when they walked in, while Republican Senator John Kennedy was on Fox News the same night declaring the war already won.
On the Texas front, James Tallarico defeated Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic Senate primary, building a coalition of Latino voters, progressive counties, and college-educated professionals. Analysts and strategists including Dan Pfeiffer and Nate Silver see a real path to flipping a Texas Senate seat. Approximately 400,000 Texans voted in a Democratic primary for the first time, with Democratic early vote turnout outpacing Republicans in a state Trump won by 14 points.
Pete Hegseth keeps promising death and destruction while operating out of a makeup studio next to his office. Phil Berger, the most powerful Republican in the North Carolina state Senate, backed by Trump and millions in donor money, lost his primary by two votes to a county sheriff who raised $45,000. Dan Crenshaw lost his Texas primary. Trump is now underwater on immigration, the economy, inflation, and has started a forever war with no plan — exactly what he promised he would never do.
