The DC National Guard shooting that killed Sarah Beckram and critically injured Andrew Wolf has revealed a disturbing connection to CIA operations in Afghanistan. The 29-year-old Afghan shooter was recruited into a CIA-backed kill squad at just 15 years old. His older brother was already a member of the zero unit, a covert assassination program targeting Taliban members and other Afghan civilians deemed threats to the United States.
For 10 years, the CIA trained this young man as an assassin before evacuating him after the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal. Intelligence sources now suggest Taliban operatives may have blackmailed him, threatening his remaining family members still trapped in Afghanistan unless he carried out the attack. The shooter faces first-degree murder charges and assault with deadly weapon charges. Andrew Wolf is reportedly recovering from his injuries. The zero unit operated throughout the war in Afghanistan, recruiting Afghan citizens to gather intelligence and eliminate targets.
This case raises serious questions about America's responsibility for creating trained killers and then bringing them to US soil without proper vetting or support. The shooter was only 5 years old when 9/11 happened and the United States invaded his country. His recruitment into the CIA assassination program as a teenager and subsequent actions in Washington DC represent a tragic failure of American foreign policy and intelligence operations.
