48:28Now PlayingA diamond is just carbon. The same element in your pencil. So how did one company convince the entire world to spend two months' salary on one?
In 1947, four words changed everything: "A Diamond is Forever." It wasn't a fact about geology. It was an ad campaign — arguably the most successful one ever created. Before it ran, barely 10% of American brides received a diamond ring. By 1990, that number hit 80%. And behind it all was one company that controlled 90% of the global supply.
This documentary traces the real story of diamonds — from their formation 3 billion years ago, 250 km below the Earth's surface, to the blood-soaked mines of Sierra Leone, to the polishing workshops of India where 9 out of 10 diamonds in the world are cut today.
