3:03Now PlayingWith his back against the wall and Allied forces closing in from West and East alike, Adolf Hitler made one last desperate attempt to turn World War II’s tide in Europe toward fascism. In December, 1944, the German army launched a surprise attack in brutal winter conditions in the Ardennes Forest. Hitler hoped a great victory would force the Allies on the Western Front to negotiate peace with Nazi Germany. But German commanders did not count on the stiff resistance of Allied defenders of democracy. This is the story of the Battle of the Bulge.
