I Never Asked to See My Dog Again

I never prayed for it. I never thought to ask.

When I was six years old, my mother placed a toy fox terrier in my cupped hands — small enough to hold in two palms. His name was Casey. In those years he was the only true friend I had. I've said it plainly before: that dog saved my life.

I didn't ask to see him again. But when I died and found myself in Heaven, Casey was there. And Jesus said to me, "See, I give you the desires of your heart."
