In this video Heimler walks you through Unit 1 Topic 5 of the AP Government curriculum. During the ratification debates for the U.S. Constitution, many compromises were required to create buy-in for the various factions. The main compromises you need to know for this course are as follows: the Great Compromise, the electoral college, the Three-Fifths Compromise, and the compromise on the importation of enslaved people.
Additionally, the debates that animated the Constitutional Convention still frame our debates today, as they did for example, with the USA PATRIOT ACT in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, and the No Child Left Behind Act in 2001.
