Dr Boyce Watkins stopped by The Hip Hop Uncensored Podcast in order to discuss Lizzo. This is after Lizzo cried on Instagram Live during an "honest moment".
The Grammy winner, who no longer has the video on her Instagram, got emotional after receiving negative comments days after Cardi B and she released the music video for "Rumors".
"On the days that I feel like I should be the most happy ...., those are the days," Lizzo said. As Lizzo sat in her bathroom, she spoke out to her social media followers, "I feel so down," Lizzo said as she rubbed her eyes. "Like, I hurt so hard."
Although the 33-year old didn't go into detail about the hateful messages, explaining that she wasn't going to say them, or give them power, they seem to be focusing on her appearance.
The three-time Grammy winner told fans Sunday that while normally Bad comments don't bother her, her tolerance for them was low after working so hard on her latest music.
Lizzo stated, "It is fatphobic and it's racist. It's hurtful." "I won't allow you to do this to Black women, especially big Black girls. You just spread hatred on us when we don't fit in the box you want us to be. It's not cool."
Lizzo added that while she focuses on providing positivity through her platforms, she sometimes feels like the world "doesn't love me back," according to a video of the livestream posted online.
Cardi B, Cardi's "Rumors” collaborator, came out in support of the singer on Twitter Sunday. She called haters "nerds", who are looking to the "popular tables"
"When you stand up for yourself they claim your problematic & sensitive," Cardi B tweeted. They will tear you apart until they make you cry like this. They will always try to make you feel insecure, no matter how thin or big you are.
Lizzo also addressed some of her critics via her TikTok account, including those who claimed she was playing into a "Mammy' stereotype. #lizzorumorsvideo
